Josh has over 20 years’ experience in oil & gas, starting as an oil battery operator outside of Ponoka, then completing an Honors Internship Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary. He has intentionally developed a broad base of experience, now having worked in almost all sectors of the energy business: Light oil and gas production, EPCM detailed sour gas plant design, oil battery operations, project management, plant operations, joint venture, business development, liquids marketing & production monitoring. He is currently in the Peace River Arch Production group at Canadian Natural (CNRL).
Mr. Carter just completed his third and final term as the President of the Gas Processors Association of Canada (GPAC). He served on the ERCB Abandonment, Remediation and Reclamation Liability Committee (Orphan Well Fund), was Chairman of the Joint PJVA/GPAC Conference 2007-2009, and was PJVA representative on the Green House Gas Regulations CAPP/PJVA/PASC Joint committee.
Past PresidentMarcel Savoie
Marcel has over 20 years experience in the industry ranging from JV accounting, audit, agreements and most recently JV Rep with Cenovus Energy. Marcel was born and raised in Calgary and is a staunch supporter of western Canadian ideals.
Previous PJVA involvement has included the Certificate Program, as steering committee member, course coordinator, and instructor. Marcel has been involved in other committees and task forces relating to the PJVA suite of model agreements.
Vice PresidentTracey Moore-Lewis
Tracey began her oil and gas career with Petro-Canada as a Joint Venture Analyst following a decade long career as a civil litigation paralegal (foreclosures and collections). When Petro-Canada merged with Suncor in 2009, Tracey became a Joint Venture Representative for Suncor's North American Onshore team where she remained until joining Enerplus as Team Lead of Joint Ventures in 2014.
In the industry of oil and gas, Tracey has volunteered for PJVA for over ten years, including several years as education director. She has completed her CAPLA Land Contracts certification, as well as her Joint Venture Admin and Joint Venture Analyst certifications through Mount Royal University. Tracey brings a strong passion for Joint Ventures and dedication to creating resources that will support our industry as well as looking for ways to implement new initiatives that will positively impact and grow knowledge and our membership.
Martine has over 25+ years of oil and gas experience. She started her career in the industry in the Non Op Accounting group at Pembina Resources and held different accounting positions until moving into the Operations group at Pembina where she started her Joint Venture career. Martine furthered her Joint Venture career at Talisman, Berkley, Chevron and Anadarko, working with Joint Venture Agreements. She was the Supervisor, Joint Interest Contracts at Enerplus for 8 years and over 2 years ago, Martine took the Team Lead Mineral Land Admin position at Enerplus Corporation so she could enhance her knowledge base and gain some new experience. Martine also has a vast knowledge in Joint Venture A&D activity. With the accounting background that Martine has she has found it to be very beneficial to her role in Joint Ventures and Mineral Land Admin.

Michelle has over 18 years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry. Her career started in 1997 as an Administrator in the Surface Land Department at Pan Canadian Petroleum Limited. This led to a full time position with Penn West Petroleum where she gained experience in Mineral Land, Contracts Land, Joint Venture Administration and as a Joint Venture Representative. Michelle has only been to a few companies in the industry those of which include Vermilion Energy and Devon Canada.
Some of her achievements include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Operations from DeVry, CAPLA Land Certificate from SAIT and the PJVA Joint Venture Administration and Analyst Programs from Mount Royal.
Michelle is currently employed at Canadian Natural Resources Limited as the Joint Venture Representative for the Sturgeon, Pouce Coupe, Progress and Teepee Areas. The different roles Michelle has endured throughout her career has been a contributing factor to her success in the industry.
Academic Co-Director (Certificate Program)Helen O'Brien
Helen began her career in the world of oil & gas with a small service company, in the accounting group (consisting of a total of two people). From there she moved on to several other employers, including Czar Resources, where she began her life in Joint Ventures, moving on to Ranger Oil, Barrington Petroleum, ARC Resources, Devon Energy, Apache, Lightstream and finally, Husky Oil, where she has recently celebrated two years of service in the Joint Ventures group as Supervisor of the SE team. She has been fortunate enough throughout her career to have worked with, and hopefully, learned something, from some wonderful mentors and colleagues in the JV world, whom she has great respect and appreciation for. Helen has volunteered for a number of PJVA task forces in the past and has recently taken on the Analyst 1 Coordinator portfolio, which involves updates and maintenance to the materials provided for students taking the course both at SAIT and through the PJVA eStudies programs. Helen’s involvement in and with the PJVA over the years has been a fantastic learning experience and a huge benefit to her development as a Joint Venture practitioner.
Brad has 15 years of oil and gas experience in crude oil marketing (Norcen Energy), market analysis and consulting (Ziff Energy), fiscal policy (British Columbia Ministry of Energy), economics, and joint ventures (Shell Canada Ltd.). He has worked in several roles involving financial evaluations, operational efficiencies, and stakeholder negotiations. Brad has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Victoria.
Kent is a local University of Calgary engineering graduate with over 30 years of varied oil and gas industry experience in head office and field locations. He returned to U of C part-time to complete the MBA program in 1998. Kent started his career in 1981 as a Production Engineer with Hudson's Bay Oil & Gas, later acquired by Dome Petroleum and then Amoco Canada. Over the years, Kent has worked for a variety of other companies (Amerada Hess, Crestar – Gulf – ConocoPhillips, Bonavista, Pengrowth and Penn West) in a variety of locations (Calgary, Red Deer and Olds) and in a variety of roles (mostly production engineering but also exploitation, joint ventures and various supervisory / management roles). The Joint Ventures side of the business has always been an area of keen interest for Kent and after working as a Joint Venture consultant for several years he joined Penn West as a Sr. JV Representative. In 2012 he moved to Trilogy Energy where he is Manager, Joint Ventures. Kent looks forward to his inaugural term with the PJVA Board of Directors and wherever his 30+ years of "grey hair" can add some value.

Chris is responsible for gas gathering and processing business development and commercial operations for Pembina Pipeline Corporation. Prior to joining Pembina Chris practiced law with an international law firm where his practice focused on mergers, acquisitions, energy project, derivatives and trading. Chris is a graduate of the University of Calgary (undergraduate degree) and University of Saskatchewan (law).

Burnet Duckworth & Palmer LLP
Ashley is an energy lawyer with the law firm Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP. Her practice focuses on oil and gas transactions, providing legal advice to large and small exploration and production companies as well as the oil and gas service sector. Ashley has worked on a variety of projects including mergers, acquisitions, asset due diligence, energy projects, corporate re-organizations, construction and service agreements, and other operational matters. Ashley holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree in addition to her law degree.

Dan has been in the industry for 29 years, the past 9 of which he has spent as a Joint Venture Representative for BP, Apache and most recently Talisman. Dan graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a diploma in Chemical Technology and has worked in many different roles supporting groups in Engineering, Operations and Accounting. Dan is a native Calgarian with a penchant for travelling and spending time with his family.
With 15 years of Joint Venture and Land experience, Scott focuses his time on contracts and commercial operations related to joint ventures. Scott was with ARC Resources Ltd. for 11 years as a JV Rep, managing the Pembina & Redwater areas.
Early Morning SessionsJonathan Cassetta
Jonathan has been with Cenovus Energy Inc. for 3 years and is currently a Joint Venture Representative managing the Langevin, Suffield and NW Alberta areas.
Prior to joining Cenovus, Jonathan worked for Canadian Pacific Railway for 8 years and held various positions within Operations, Management Planning and Product Design.
Jonathan is currently enrolled in the Joint Venture Administration and Analyst Certificate programs at Mount Royal University and is very passionate about learning the JV industry and volunteering for the PJVA.
Previous PJVA involvement includes member of the Pad Sharing Agreement Task Force and the Golf Networking committee.
JV AdministrationLorie Caron
Lorie joined the oil and gas industry in 1981 within the Exploration Services area at PanCanadian and held different administration, clerical and analytical positions within drilling, completions, accounting, production/facility operations, mineral land and joint venture. Within the JV group, she performed a variety of tasks from administration to analyst work, before moving into a leadership position.
Presently, Lorie is the Group Lead, Joint Venture Administration at Encana. Lorie has successfully implemented an end to end document solution for the Joint Venture agreements at Encana, and has had positive results working with vendors to capture JV Administration processes within their systems. She continually provides innovative ways to help automate and standardize the basic JV Administration processes within Encana, which allow Administrators to focus on additional non-routine Administrative tasks and grow in their own career development.
Lorie was instrumental in the re-write of the PJVA-Mount Royal Joint Venture Administration course, and teaches this same course at Mount Royal University.
Task ForcesGrant Feddema
Lightstream Resources Ltd.
Grant Feddema is currently with Lightstream Resources Inc. as Supervisor, Joint Ventures. Over the past decade Grant has worked with a variety of E&P companies in Joint Venture Analyst and Representative roles. Grant has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in Management from Dickinson State University and has completed the PJVA Petroleum Joint Venture Analyst Certificate as well as the Devon Canada Emerging Leader Program.
Grant has been involved in the PJVA since 2005 as a member and for the last 5 years as a member of the Education Committee on both the Analyst I and II committees. Grant also held the Analyst I Coordinator position from January 2013 to June 2014.
Maureen has over 13 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas Industry from Operations to Land and Joint Ventures and is currently working with IndOil Montney. Maureen graduated from York University with a Bachelor’s diploma and has worked with a variety of E&P companies in various roles to develop a broad base of experience in the Industry from Agreements to Accounting and is working on Joint Venture Analyst certification. Maureen brings a passion for volunteering in the Industry with the SPE, and PASC as well as the PJVA, serving on the PJVA Conference and Admin Portfolio Committees and is dedicated to initiatives to add value to the PJVA.
