Strategic Alternatives and your Partners
Don Bannerman, Provident Energy

What are the red flags that your partner is at risk of "maximizing shareholder value by seeking strategic alternatives?

We've all been there. We serve an independent operations notice, mail ballot or AFE only to find that our partner can't approve anything because the "data room" is opening in a few days. What red flags could there have been to warn us that this was about to happen?

Our speaker is Don Bannerman. Don is the former Vice-President of Corporate Acquisitions and Divestitures at Provident Energy. In his role it was his job to review various deals to determine if they were a fit with the strategic direction of the company. This included corporate level takeovers as well as property level deals. Don's 20 plus years of diverse experience have ranged from mail room clerk to production accountant, corporate level reporting analyst to the position he held before retiring earlier than some people start their careers.
