General Electric (GE) faced with questions from investors in 2004 about claims of being “GREEN”, embarked on a path to develop a viable framework to understand green and develop an industry model to produce a viable and profitable business. Ecoimagination is the result and this is the story of how it became so successful.
Storm Purdy is a Global Account Executive with General Electric in the Calgary based Heavy Oil group focused on bring solutions to the Heavy Oil business in Canada. Besides being a native Calgarian, he has been active in the Oil and Gas industry for over 25 years and the Joint Venture business for over 15 years. In 2001, Storm was the President of PJVA.
Summary Storm Purdy presented an imaginative presentation on GE's innovations within the electric world, as well as products which improve efficiencies in the world of heavy oil. Everything from limiting water usage, energy efficient lighting, to natural gas fired locomotives, GE has studied it and has innovated and improved it. It was a fascinating presentation with a real future in the world of heavy oil and direct consumer use as well.
