November Luncheon
David Diakow, Director, Commercial Development - Oil Pipelines, TransCanada

The Keystone Pipeline is a 3,460-kilometre pipeline that transports crude oil from Hardisty, Alberta to markets in the American Midwest at Wood River and Patoka in Illinois, and at Cushing, Oklahoma. Deliveries to Wood River and Patoka began in the summer of 2010, and deliveries to Cushing began in February of 2011. The pipeline system currently has the capacity to deliver up to 590,000 bpd of Canadian crude oil into these important North American refining markets.

TransCanada's current focus is on the next expansion phase of Keystone, project name Keystone XL, which would expand the Keystone system with a new pipeline from Hardisty, Alberta to connect directly to the largest refining market in the world at the US Gulf Coast. Enroute, Keystone XL would also provide US production, namely in the Bakken and Cushing areas with access to this key market.

Keystone XL represents a major, shovel-ready project with significant importance to the U.S. economy, the Canadian economy and the national interest of the United States.
