January 2011 Natural Gas for Transportation - Part 2 Luciano Dalla-Longa - Encana This month we present the second of a two-part series on initiatives Encana is working on to increase natural gas demand in North America. This month's luncheon will focus on the electricity generation sector. Our presenter, Luciano Dalla-Longa, will describe the work Encana is doing to increase natural gas demand in the power generation sector, including how US regulatory issues are expected to impact gas demand over the next 10 years. He will also discuss work that Encana has participated in 2010, which resulted in the Public Utilities Commission in Colorado requiring the public power utilities to decommission over 50% of their coal generation capacity over the next 5 years and replaced with gas fired generation. Finally, Luciano will briefly highlight opportunities in Alberta to increase the use of gas from its coal based generation fleet. Luciano Dalla-Longa has 25 years of experience in areas of finance, accounting and regulatory matters in both the private and public sectors. He is employed with the Power Market Development group within Encana's Natural Gas Economy Team. He holds an MBA from the Haskayne School of Business and BComm degree from the University of Calgary and served as a Board Member of the Southeast Alberta Innovation and Technology Advisory Board and a special advisor to the Southeastern Alberta Regional Economic Development Alliance. |
