May 2010 Alberta Carbon Trunk Line (ACTL) Farid Remtulla, Senior Vice President, Enhance Energy Inc. The Premiere of Alberta announced last December, the involvement of the Alberta Government in a project called the Alberta Carbon Trunk Line (ACTL). This project is the world's largest carbon capture and storage project. This 240 kilometre pipeline will gather, compress and store up to 14.6 million tonnes of CO2 per year, once at full capacity, which is equivalent to removing 2.6 million cars off the road annually or about a third of all registered vehicles in the province. As a significant added benefit, the stored CO2 will be injected into depleted oil reservoirs and result in the establishment of an enhanced oil recovery industry. This will translate into more than $15 billion in royalties for Alberta. Farid is a petroleum engineer with 28 years of extensive oil industry experience in operations, production and development, working for companies such as Imperial Oil, Crestar, Gulf Canada, Conoco-Phillips and EnCana. He designed the largest heavy oil waterflood in the world with 1.4 billion barrels of original oil in place, exclusively utilizing horizontal wells. His focus over the last 15 years has been enhanced oil recovery and he will present to us Enhance Energy’s Alberta Carbon Trunkline Project. Presentations: View Presentation |
